Florida Uncovers Its New Registered Paralegal Program

May 23rd, 2008

Today is the first day of the new Florida Registered Paralegal Program. Already, 300 people have requested the application, and numerous others are expected to download it from the Florida Bar’s Website within the first twenty-four hours.

Keep in mind that, candidates must pay a fee of $150 to apply. Accepted candidates will be notified by mail, with certificates and welcome packets, within two weeks. The Code of Ethics and Responsibility is a disciplinary system that works as a two-tier system for paralegals.

Paralegals with training, education or work experience and who perform delegated, substantive work under the supervision of attorneys, for which the attorneys are responsible, qualify for the first tier.

The tier two paralegals have to be certified by the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) or the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) in order to fulfill the needs of work experience and education.

In the first three years of the program, paralegals who show substantial experience can become Florida Registered Paralegals, even if they have not met the education or certification requirements. This is a called a grand-fathering provision, and it was put into effect to make the transition in to the new registered paralegal program go a smoothly as possible.

The Web site of The Florida Bar lists the receivers of the title.

30 hours of continuing education courses are required over a three-year period, with five of those hours having to be in professionalism or ethics courses, if you wish to maintain your Florida Registered Paralegal status.
Attorneys who hire paralegals are responsible for their supervision, even if they are not certified as Florida Registered Paralegals. This holds true for any state.

Awesome Decorated Lofts

May 20th, 2008

Nowadays living in a loft is a synonymous undisputed interior design training. Once viewed as a way to save on housing, today living in a loft is seen as a luxury. Empty industrial spaces, like unused warehouses or pavilions, are often used as experimental interior design projects. But it is possible that those interior designers who are facing the prospect of decorating a loft, do so with the doubts that plague anyone who is preparing to decorate his new home, adding to the stress of decorating an unknown space.

The industrial air is often central in these large spaces. The cold material contributes to the conservation of that industrial aspect that originally lived in the industrial space. Floors of polished cement help to amplify spaces because of their brightness and the absence of boards. To distinguish the “spaces” of a loft, you can opt to use different shades to stain the concrete floor. Using very intense colors but in a limited chromatic palette is recommended. It is also recommended to use bright colors such as reds, oranges, or greens in the kitchen and bathroom, which contrasts with the coldness of the concrete and further enhance the aseptic feeling that surrounds lofts.

As far as furniture goes, one should go with a few large pieces. If there are too many pieces included, it will appear cluttered since people take in the whole array in one look. The lifestyle of a person who lives in a loft is often fast paced, and their living space often has an empty feeling with little space or disorder.

They help each other hand in hand as they move from one course to another. The solidarity in learning groups remain intact even after they’ve earned their degrees. However, learning teams are a bit smaller than the learning groups in terms of head count. Usually, learning teams in top nursing schools consists of around 3 to 6 students only. 5 Leading Online Schools

April 4th, 2008

The internet has revolutionized many parts of our economy. You can shop, meet people online and, now, you can take college courses for credit. Five schools are influencing “distance learning” like no others before them. Let’s take a look at online education providers as offered by these leading schools.

The University of Phoenix was among the first accredited universities to provide college degree programs via the internet. Founded in 1976, the university began to offer internet degree programs in 1989. The program has grown to where 150,000 students are in the process of pursuing degrees on the Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral level at any given time. Programs in Technology, Business, Education, Nursing, and Management are offered and The University of Phoenix has now become the largest private university in the US.

DeVry University offers business and technology degrees on the undergraduate and graduate level. In addition, the school offers graduate level certificate programs. Headquartered in Illinois, the school allows students to work on their degree while online, at a local campus, or both. Indeed, campuses can now be found in 21 states as well as in Alberta, Canada.

Westwood College traces its roots to Denver, Colorado where it was founded in 1953 as the Denver Institute of Technology. Fifteen campuses in California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, and Texas comprise the physical campus with the internet opening up the school to students around the world. Westwood offers programs in Aviation, Business, Criminal Justice, Design, Technology, Health Sciences, and Industrial Sciences.

Kaplan University is a wholly owned company of The Washington Post Company, a publisher of one the nation’s leading newspapers, The Washington Post. Kaplan’s offerings include degrees in Arts and Science, Business, Criminal Justice, Education, Technology and Design, Nursing and Health Care, Paralegal Studies, and Financial Planning. The school offers students degrees on the Associates, Bachelors, and Masters levels as well as certificates for certain programs.

Founded in Naples, Florida in 1970 by a couple who wanted to offer a way for working adults to pursue doctoral degrees, Walden University has evolved into a large, online university offering students degrees on the Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral level. Now headquartered in Minneapolis, the university features five distinct schools: School of Education, School of Management, School of Health and Human Services, School of Psychology, and the NTU School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Online education is not for everyone and that is why the first three universities give to their students the option to study on campus, while the last two are strictly internet based. However, all five schools offer to students something that traditional programs do not have: the opportunity to pursue a degree at a pace the student determines and at a place [your computer] that is appealing to many. Unquestionably, online education has arrived as a viable alternative for degree seeking students around the world.

American Citizenship

April 3rd, 2008

Can We Pass The Test?

American Citizenship

I’m the daughter of an American soldier and with that comes pride of my American heritage, and love and pride for our country. I have thought of myself as being a patriot, which I am. But I have found out to my dismay, that we as Americans have not gone to any length to know enough about our country.

I feel very lucky that I was born here.

Online there is a citizenship test, similar to the test that those from other countries are required to take. I took the test and made a score of 6 out of a possible 11. I regarded that as a low score but the test said not that bad.

I was disappointed in myself, a daughter of a ww2 vet, who knew so little about my country.

It amazes me that those from other countries would sacrifice so much, their families and those they love to come to a country so different from their own.

They have to live in America five years, obtain good employment, and there are those that even marry American citizens to obtain citizenship to our country.

Many of them learn our language and have countless obstacles to overcome to stay in our country and obtain a citizenship that I have taken so easily for granted.

It makes me more grateful that I was born here, and it has opened my eyes that I need to be more informed about how country.

Types of Stress

April 2nd, 2008

Trying to encourage someone, striving to regain his confidence,
we utter sacramental “nervous cells do not regenerate”. This is
a very well-known medical fact that every student should know
of. Then why do we ignore such an obvious warning? We meditate
to stay calm, be head and shoulders above the everyday problems.
Not to be anxious - this is the aim. Scientists would qualify
all these actions as ways and o overcome and subdue stress.
Different scholars in their famous works offer a varied number
of suggestions on how to reduce stress. We’ll try to take an
in-depth look only at several.

Conflict stress. When you see obvious signs of a conflict
arising between you and the opponent, a good idea would be just
to avoid it.By avoiding we do not assume a cowardly escape from
an argument to determine the mean of justice, for your personal
opinion. The situation that should be avoided can be referred to
a little family conflict over daily routine, a meaningless
argument at the office, word fight in the public transport, a
heated argument with your tutor who claims that you actually did
write an online literary
essay yourself. In such situation it is better to retreat
without waiting the consequences to appear. When speaking about
conflicts, people can be classified into rabbits and lions.
Having decided to get involved in the argument, try to assess
objectively what type of a person your opponent belongs to
(http://www.exploratorium.edu/). If you see that a furious lion
is not going to back up on his positions try to decrease his
anger by your sense of humor, but if you see that it takes a lot
of courage for your opponent to continue the argument, try to
comfort the poor “rabbit” with little kindness and love. Failure
stress. You work like a titan, but still, no matter how hard you
strive, you still feel that you are loosing your battle. The
motivation slowly but surely disappears and you are about to
drop it all. This state of extremity you are about to get in
shows that you have finally to calm down and spare your nerves.
If you have no answer to a question “how”, leave the challenging
barrier at least for a while and input your energy into
completing a task much more simpler, but much more important. If
you have a difficulty in essay writing, forget about
cocksureness and use essay help and advice of your tutor or
services of an essay writing company.

Monotony stress is also worth mentioning. Easy life with no
trouble, working process with no problems may also be the cause
of stress. After reaching everything that is planned, a person
may get a sense of being an alien. How to cope with this?
Avoiding problems and challenges is not the best way out; easy
ways will make it even harder to come with the problem later on.
If there is nothing to strive for, there will be no anxiety that
everyone requires.
